Hey Jaryd and Benjamin, fantastic deep-dive on Dovetail. Great to see a company that's focused on helping companies collect, organize and utilize customer insights. Does Dovetail focus exclusively on collecting and organizing customer feedback on products? It seems the focus is on leveraging customer insights to improve product design. I'm wondering if Dovetail also aids in marketing design, ie helping companies gleam customer insights into HOW they are using products in order to better understand ways that their marketing can be improved in order to focus on current or desired customer behavior. It seems like this would be a very complimentary offering to what Dovetail already offers in terms of product feedback. Just curious if this is something Benjamin and his team offers, or has considered. Thanks again Jaryd, great work!
Hey Mack! Thanks so much! Dovetail has actually stayed away from the collection piece. They ingest collected data (i.e surveys, interviews, etc) via partnerships and integrations, and then their secret sauce is all the organizing and analysis to make sense of it all.
So you're spot on--the focus is on leveraging customer insights to improve product design. But, Dovetail can make sense of any qualitative customer data you give it. So if across your research you're asking customers how they're using your product and why, Dovetail will find all those trends for you.
So, on the marketing side, you can definitely use that info around how to position your product. Take the case of Dovetail finding out that product managers were using their product for customer research (how and why), this insight guided them to widening their aperture and going after the PM audience.
