Hi Jaryd!

A belated welcome back from vacation, and thank you for the insights. Regarding the #4 topic:

The "No" negotiating tactic wasn't a Chris Voss idea. This concept came from the "Start with No: The Negotiating Tools that the Pros Don't Want You to Know" by the late Jim Camp. I befriended Jim over the last few years of his life, and he had influenced me hugely. I highly recommend reading the original because it is SO GOOD, and not just for business negotiations. The audio version is also excellent. https://www.amazon.com/Start-No-Negotiating-Tools-that-ebook/dp/B003EY7JEE/

Hey Jaryd, another great issue! Love Chris Voss' tip about getting to 'No' as quickly as possible during a negotiation. I guess it depends on how you view the other party saying 'No'. If you view it as a failure, then you want to avoid it. A confident negotiator like Chris no doubt views the 'No' as the starting point for the negotiation. His approach makes complete sense. Have a great weekend!

I guess from his experience of speaking to terrorists and criminals, he's pretty used to hearing "no" first...so perhaps he's worked backwards from this principle lol. Have a great weekend to, Mack!
