I'm back, but different
Something new from me
Hello guys!
It’s been a minute. I really hope every one of you has been doing well and the year’s off to a great start.
I’ve missed this. Not just writing, but thinking out loud about building products with you. The deep dives we’ve done here on How They Grow taught me so much about company building, and I kept feeling that pull to stop studying the thing and go do the thing.
So, that’s what I’ve been doing. And I want to follow my own advice and start writing about it.
I’m starting something new called The Diff: a casual, build-in-public log where I share real notes from my fun little projects. Actual commits. Decisions. Tools and workflows. Data and progress. Mistakes when I make them (often). What I’m trying, what’s working, what isn’t. There will be a lot of putting to practice ideas and playbooks uncovered in the main deep dives we did and seeing how they apply to this new era of building things.
The idea: I’m building mini products as a solo, non-technical builder using tools that make me feel more technical than I should—like Cursor, Expo, Supabase, etc. Shipping almost dangerously quickly, sharing everything, and trying to get them to real revenue. Think of it as a field guide for anyone curious about making their own thing.
It’s lowercase technical and accessible, especially if you’re the kind of person who’s been watching all this AI coding stuff happening. If you know what Github, an IDE, and Add/Commit/Push are—you’re good I promise!
How They Grow will stay up as it has been as an archive, all those deep dives aren’t going anywhere. But my new stuff is going here now to The-Diff.
You don’t need to do anything. I’ll be sending The Diff from my email (Jaryd), so you’ll get it directly. First one drops tomorrow/Wednesday—I’ll walk you through day 0 of the first product I’m building and what I did in the first two hours.
